Week 2: Lighthouse – Not On My Watch Ministry conducts 40 Nights of Prayer for Hip Hop Community

NOMWFlyer is teaming up with New York-based ministry Not on My Watch for their annual praying and fasting time from January 1 – February 9. Each week we will be posting Not on My Watch’s blog and devotion, as we join them in praying each day for the hip hop community.

The posts are written by Kei-Landa Rembert (@PrayForHipHop).

40 Nights of prayer and fasting for the hip hop community sun-down to sun-up. (During the day you can eat but when the sun goes down you turn over your plate and pray (you can still drink liquids). Feel free if you want to substitute another meal or just join in with the prayer challenges.)

Week #2: Lighthouse

“Be on your guard. Stand firm in the faith. Be courageous. Be strong.”

1 Corinthians 16:13

Welcome to week 2 of our 40 nights of praying for the hip-hop community! If you want the instructions for the fast, it is written above but if you would like to just join in the praying portion no worries at all! That’s what this is all about!

This week we will be praying for the Christians in the hip hop community. There have been so many moments where opinion has overshadowed our ability to pray for our fellow brothers and sisters who are called to be a light in the hip hop community. There are challenges that come alongside this that many of us have not take a moment to realize.

From the sacrifices made to go on tours, to the personal growing pains that come along with being a Christian, to the negative feedback that comes their way, not only from the world but from the body. No one is perfect, everyone falls short and yet we need to be willing to offer a hand instead of a harsh word. For this reason, this week, we are going to love on the CHH community through our prayers. The verse above has to be our hope for the artists we see day in and day out giving their lives and their gifts to be a lighthouse. May they be on their guard, stand firm in the faith, be courageous and be strong.

Here are some prayer points to guide you through the week. I encourage you to get a journal and record what God is speaking to you each day. May God meet each of you in a fresh way this week, I will be praying for you all!
