Earlier today, I posted the Cover art on Instagram for a new Mixtape I’m dropping this Monday called Trip Lee: One Hundred Sixteens. As soon as I posted it, a bunch of questions arose: Will this be new music? Is this an official Reach Project? Why not drop it tomorrow (1/16)?
Below you will find the cover. And beneath the cover, you will see questions and answers about the project.
Is this an Official Reach Records/ Trip Lee Project?
No. This is something I drummed up on my own. I did clear it with them before putting it out though. But, no this isn’t an “Official Reach” project.
Will the project have new music on it?
No. This is Mixtape in the truest sense of the word. These are all songs that have previously been released. My goal was to mix and remix them in a way that makes you appreciate the music and its mesage even more. Basically, it’s like the title suggests, a bunch of 16′s by Trip Lee blended together seamlessly.
Why not drop it tomorrow, 1/16/13?
I strongly considered this. It would have gone with the concept perfectly. I had a feeling that Reach was going to drop Andy Mineo’s new single on that date, and I wasn’t 100% sure I’d have put the finishing touches on this project by then.
Why did you do this mixtape?
I’m a big Trip fan. When it came out that he wouldn’t be doing music as frequently to focus more on his family and local ministry, I began thinking of ways to celebrate his music and talent. We did a group blog highlighting his Top 10 songs and simultaneously, had started working on what would become this project. Initially, it was just going to be a mix on my podcast, but it quickly morphed into much more.
Will it really be 100 Sixteens?
Not quite. 100 Sixteens would be almost 2 hours. It’s pretty close though. I included a good mixture of his older material, new songs and even his features.
Where Will it be available?
You will be able to download it free of charge right here on wadeoradio.com
Will there be physical copies available?
No. For legal reasons, this project won’t be for sale and therefore, we won’t press up physical copies of it.
