Transparent wins BET Music Matters Merge Showcase with Hit Single “One Way”

On Friday, August 23rd, Transparent won the BET Music Matters Merge Showcase in LA. This is the same showcase that Mali Music won a few years ago before performing at the BET awards in 2011 and getting signed to RCA.

10 artists/bands performed one song each in front of a panel of judges and a crowd of 200+ music lovers.

The panel of judges consisted of two BET executives, the Director of Label Marketing for Island Def Jam, Lecrae, Mali Music and MC Jin.

Transparent performed his new single “One Way“(prod. by Black Knight) for his one song set.  Wade-O Radio listeners will be familier with “One Way” as its been a fixture on Wade’s World Wide Top 5 the past few weeks.

According those in attendance Transparent won the crowd, plus the panel of judges, over as soon as he hit the stage.

When MC Jin was asked to give his feedback on the performance, he turned to the crowd and started the chant “Turn Up…Turn Up”, which is part of the chorus for “One Way”. When the mic was passed to Lecrae for his response, he started it off by saying “So you gonna let me get on that remix?”.

Lecrae even gave Transparent a shout out on Twitter for his performance.
