Babies are so cute, aren’t they? Just playing with their little hands and little feet. The cute noises and faces they make. It just makes you feel all warm inside. I’m not a parent, but I’ve been around babies enough to know that not only are these little people cute, but they can definitely let out a cry that can give the biggest, strongest, toughest man a headache. The only thing that isn’t so cute about these small people is the shrill of their cry. If they cry long and hard enough, after you have done everything you know how to do, you begin to feel like you should just cry right along with them. Why is it that the little things, like a baby’s cry, can break some of the strongest of us down?
The same can be said about some of life’s smallest issues that can cause many of us that are in Christ to buckle and bend. Why does this happen? Shouldn’t we as Christians be better than that? Why as a Christian would we still struggle? Just in case you forgot, we are human. We mess up. We have moments when we forget that we can do all things through Christ. (Phil 4:13). We let 1 John 4:4 slip our minds that ‘You have overcome them because greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world.’ Some of life’s situations can cause us to forget that despite what we go through, we will always triumph. (2 Cor. 2:14). Don’t let life’s small things distract you from focusing on running this race with patience and keeping focus on Jesus. (Heb. 12:1-2) Don’t get distracted soldier! I know it is easy to say what can’t be done, but look at what God can do.
Faith is a small thing that, when in use, can cause big results. If you do find yourself doubting the power, provision, and purpose of God, quickly change your focus. Bring any thought of doubt or despair into captivity (2 Cor. 10:5), knowing that God won’t break a promise (Matt. 24:35). Stay strong Christian. You aren’t the only one that may buckle under pressure. Just know that this Christian walk is a journey, not a destination. No one will ever ‘arrive’ at being the perfect Christian.
