PRESS RELEASE STATEMENT:
The mixtape as a platform for Hip-Hop’s newcomers has become so watered-down over time that it is barely recognizable to those who have been long time connoisseurs of the classic mixtape. One producer is reimagining this form of Hip-Hop expression to recapture its original purpose as a vehicle to showcase new talent and provide entertaining content for the listener.
To accomplish this goal, award-winning producer, Tha Kracken, is pairing his aggressive style of battle-tested beats with MCs who promise to match his production intensity with battle raps of their own. TO REFLECT THE BATTLE-STYLE NATURE OF THE MIXTAPE, THE PROJECT IS APPROPRIATELY TITLED, “THA KRACKEN VS.”
“I’ve been going around the country, competing and winning beat battles. I had a ton of battle beats that I could only use at battles and I felt there was more I could do with them. That’s when I realized what Hip-Hop needed was a project that would creatively display the talent and artistry of both producer and MC.”
Tha Kracken began a search to find MCs who would be able to match the aggressiveness and battle-style nature of his beats. HE FOUND EXACTLY WHAT HE WAS LOOKING FOR IN THE BIRTHPLACE OF HIP-HOP-NEW YORK CITY.
“I knew I was going to bring battle beats to the table, so I needed some battle-hardened rappers to compete with me to really make the project special. When I heard these dudes rap, I knew I had the cats I was looking for,” said Tha Kracken about his opponent on “Tha Kracken Vs.”
The identity of the MCs won’t be revealed until the release of “Tha Kracken Vs.,” but the producer was kind enough to give us a brief tale-of-the-tape on them, “these guys are an example of everything that makes New-York battle rap what it is. They’ve sharpened their skills on the streets, in cyphers, and in battles everywhere. They bring true hip-hop lyricism into the ring.”
IN A NOD TO THE ORIGINAL, DJ-DRIVEN NATURE OF THE CLASSIC MIXTAPE, THE PROJECT IS HOSTED BY Headkrack.
“THA KRACKEN VS.” will be released TUESDAY, OCTOBER 7TH on several mixtape sites and will prove to be a true showcase of what make Hip-Hop great – a classic battle of BEATS VS. RHYMES!
