Devotion: Plan A? Plan B? No! God's Plan
“Handed him the contract, like can you sign that line? He ripped it up and said, that’s your plan not mine.” -Sho Baraka “Turn My Life Up”
Have your ever made plans, and they never turned out the way you wanted them to? And then, because they didn’t go the way you wanted to, you got angry? Yeah, I definitley understand too.
See, I’m a Resident Assistant at my University, and many times when I’m about to actually do some homework, I always seem to get a phone call or a knock on my door for a lock out or an emergency. And then I don’t ever get my work done. It seems to never fail.
This past week, I was awaiting an important phone call. See, I had just planned out my whole summer. Go to summer school (Maymester), work, and then come back refreshed and ready to finish school. Thinking it was what God wanted me to do. But, God had some othe plans. He basically like Sho Baraka said, “ripped it up and said, that’s your plan not mine.”
Man, I was upset! Matter of fact, I could not function that day. I had just planned my summer to the “tee”, and one phone call shifted the whole thing. It’s funny. Because that is how God works sometimes. If things are not in line with what He says, He’s going to change it up. I made all of these plans, and did not see if they were what God wanted me to truly do.
But there is one thing we do have to remember. No matter what, God is in control. I had to remember that. Thanks to my brothers and sisters in Christ (Accountability). It says in His word:
Jeremiah 29:11 [NIV]
“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
God already knows what’s going to happen. He already knows what we should and shouldn’t be doing. He has a bigger picture for our lives. We just need to trust in Him, and believe that everything will be alright.
Proverbs 3:5-6 [NIV]
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in ALL your ways acknowledge Him, and he will make your paths straight.”
So I may not be doing all that I want to do this summer, but I do know this… that I will be waiting on the Lord to find out!
