There is a game called “Never Have I Ever”. Some of you may be familiar with it, some of you may not. The way you play is everyone starts with 10 fingers up sitting in a circle. Each person starts with facts about themselves that has never happened. For example, I’ll be the starter. I’ll say “Never have I ever had a broken bone.” Anyone that has had a broken bone will put a finger down. The person to my left will go next. “Never have I ever flown in a plane.” Anyone that has flown before will put a finger down. The game is over when someone has put down all 10 fingers. When played correctly, you begin to find out a lot about the people playing. (Disclaimer: This game is commonly associated with drinking. In no way is TWORS condoning drinking. It is a very fun game and can be played without any alcoholic drinks.) After you play it with one group of friends, you feel accomplished when you find out that 3 of your friends have never seen snow, 2 people have never moved to a different state, and 1 person has broken more than 3 bones at once. Have you ever wondered what ‘secrets’ God would have?
God has a list of things He has never done and for that matter will never do. Here are a few:
- Lie- Titus 1:2
- Change- Malachi 3:6
- Be unfaithful- 2 Timothy. 2:13
- Forsake us- Hebrews 13:5-6
- Remember sins- Isaiah 43:25
- Get tired- Isaiah 40:28
- Fail in love- 1 Corinthians 13:8
God also has a list of things that He has promised us! Meaning there are things He will always do. Never will He ever break one of His promises. God checks and double checks to make sure all promises are fulfilled. Jeremiah 1:12 “And the LORD said, “That’s right, and it means that I am watching, and I will certainly carry out all my plans.” (NLT)
- Rewards for seeking God- Hebrews 11:6
- Hear our prayers- 1 John 5:14
- Give freedom- 2 Corinthians 3:17
- Give comfort- Matthew 5:4
- Heal broken hearts- Psalms 147:3
- Supply any need- Psalms 23:1
- Give strength- Psalms 29:11
I challenge you to continue to find explore the promises of God. Dig into your word for daily promises to stand on. My favorite promise is Jeremiah 29:13– “And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.”Feel free to share your favorite promise in the comment box below!
