Lecrae announced that Church Clothes Vol. 2, the second installment of his free Church Clothes mixtape series, will be released on Nov. 7.
He broke the news on Thursday, Oct. 18 at BET’s 106 & Park after performing his new single off the project, “I’m Turnt,” with Reflection Music Group rapper Canon.
“We just wanted to do something dope just to show people … obviously people know where I stand in my faith and the whole nine, but Church Clothes is really all about saying don’t put on airs, don’t act like you got it all together, just come as you are,” said Lecrae. “This is me being 100 percent me. So that’s what we wanted to put on the mixtape so people get a gist of and feel like it’s hip hop, but it’s distinct.”
Lecrae added that B.o.B and his “116 family” including Tedashii would be featured on the project. The song with B.o.B could be the “Round of Applause (Remix)” released in May.
Lecrae told Nicky G of Sway’s Universe at Rock the Bells 2013 that Boi-1da, who produced “Gimme A Second” on Church Clothes Vol. 1, will be on the sequel as well as David Banner and Paul Wall. Lecrae clarified to AllHipHop.com that Banner will produce on the project and Wall will be featured on a song, along with his Reach Records label mate Derek Minor. Banner also starred in the music video for “Confe$$ions” off of Lecrae’s sixth and most recent studio album, Gravity.
The Reach hip-hop artist released his first mixtape, hosted by DJ Don Cannon, on DatPiff.com. Listeners downloaded Church Clothes Vol. 1 on DatPiff nearly 500,000 times, earning it platinum status, the second-highest honor for celebrated mixtapes on the website.
