When I logged into the Wade-O Radio site to write this devotional, I had no clue as to what I was going to write. Normally, I had already jotted something down during the week, way before the 1st or 15th. But today things were different. I did what I normally do before I post a devo: pray, read a few verses in Psalms, play some music, then start typing. But today, I had just a blank screen. I had no analogy come to mind. I had no song lyrics I felt led to share. I even thought about texting Wade to say ‘Well, no devotional today.’ But then God was like ‘Why would you give up just because YOU don’t know? Can’t I get glory even when you don’t know what to do? I know.’ So yea, I got put in check and now I’m telling you about it. Embarrassing! But it’s the truth. Why is it just because we don’t know what we want to do or where to go, we think God doesn’t know as well?
More often than we realize, as Christians, we reach a season where we just don’t know what to do. We don’t know whether to go into ministry full time or not (or stay in ministry full-time). We don’t know whether or not we should tell our spouses we want to start a family. We don’t know whether or not we should take a leadership position in a ministry at church. We don’t know whether or not we should pursue that degree we want. We don’t know whether or not we should write that book we’ve always thought about. So instead of us either doing it or not, we often just do nothing. Hoping God will just take that desire or talent away. Sorry, but that won’t happen. God won’t change His mind about the calling and gifting on our lives. (Romans 11:29)
My purpose in these devotionals is to shed light on some biblical truths in a practical way. Well here’s the biblical truth today: when we don’t know what will happen, He knows. Jeremiah 29:11– For I know the plans I have for you… It’s ok to be uncertain, have fears, and a lot of shortcomings because in the end, they all work for our good. Romans 8:28– And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. (NIV) Remember fam, when things seem cloudy, and you don’t know what to do next, God knows, just rely on Him. Proverbs 3:5-6–Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He will make your paths straight.
Check back for more devotionals on the 1st and 15th of each month.
