Dwight “Transparent” Taylor Sr. nominated as “Jr. NBA Coach of the Year” Finalist


Rapper, Author, and motivational speaker Dwight “Transparent” Taylor Sr. was recently named the “Jr. NBA Coach of the Year” by the Sacramento Kings.

Of the 21 nominees selected nationally, Taylor has made it into the semi-finals of the National “Jr. NBA Coach of the Year”, and is one of the Top 8 finalists. 

According to a press release statement from NBA.com:

Local youth basketball coach, Dwight Taylor of Albert Einstein Middle School in Sacramento, has been selected as a semi-finalist for the Jr. NBA’s 2016-17 Jr. Coach of the Year Award. NBA teams around the country nominate local coaches who do more than instruct players on the court and focus on teaching life lessons to develop young people into healthy, confident and respectful adults.

Coach Dwight Taylor has coached Einstein Middle School boys’ basketball in Sacramento for two seasons. Coach Taylor’s integrity, passion and commitment have been recognized following each season by his peers selecting him to coach a regional All-Star team. In addition to his coaching career, he is also the author of a book called “Domin8 Your Day,” a high-energy, high-value, interactive book that takes readers through insightful explorations of how self-awareness can positively impact your life and the lives of others. He has crafted his own YouTube channel which features a variety of different motivational videos.

From the 8 finalists, they will select 3 to be flown to NY for the NBA awards on June 26th and announce the winner there.

Fan voting will be open on Twitter only for a period of 15 days beginning Monday, May 8 at 12:00pm EST and concluding on Monday, May 22 at 11:59pm EST. You can vote as many times as you want, everyday! All you have to do is tweet the hashtag #JRNBACOYSAC.

Voting rules are as follows:

  • Voting is open from May 8 – May 22, 2017on Twitter ONLY
  • Tweet specific coach hashtag to count as one vote
  • Retweets count as votes
  • There is no limit on the amount of times users can vote per day
