Earlier this week, breaking news spread throughout social media that Dee-1’s Separated at Birth mixtape was banned by RCA Inspiration and would not be released due to business reasons. On Thursday Dee-1 called in to Sway in The Morning and spoke to them about the whole situation.

Response to the ban has inspired the creation of a Petition Letter to President Obama to call for the release of Separated at Birth on change.org.

Dee-1 took to his social media outlets Friday evening to release the track “Can’t BAN the Hopeman,” a track that he says answers the questions, “Why was my mixtape banned?” and “Will ‘Separated at Birth’ drop?”
