Common Speaks on How His Faith Influences His Music and Social Activism

Common & Wade-O

I attended a live interview series called Build at the AOL Studios in New York City earlier today. Grammy Award winner Common was the guest. In the interview, he talked some of the work he was doing in Prisons and Ava Duvernay’s film 13th.

Common was one of the artists I was really into when I first got into Hip Hop and I knew he always talked about his faith. It has certainly evolved over the years. He considers himself a Christian now and I asked him how his faith influences all of his art and activism.

I don’t agree with everything he said in the clip, but I think he said a lot of really good things that we should all think critically about.
