Sexual Sin is one of the dirty little secrets of the church. Many of us engage in it, yet very few of us are willing to talk about it. God always has a remnant though. The Christian Hip Hop community has several artists who have been vocal and active about fighting this and helping others stay pure.
I had chance to write an article for Covenant Eyes about this subject recently. In the article, I mentioned how Trip Lee, Da T.R.U.T.H., Timothy Brindle and Oppose all have influenced me in this area. Oppose has been a good friend, accountability parter and mentor. Trip, T.R.U.T.H. and Brindle all released projects that addressed this directly or indirectly. Those projects were able to encourage not only me, but many others to strive for sexual purity.
I also laid out three reasons why the leaders in our community have been willing to step up to the plate to discuss these issues:
1. Christianity Requires Us to Be Authentic
2. Hip Hop Has a Shortage of Authentic Rappers
3. Christian Hip Hop Artists Fight The Same Battles That Every Other Man Faces
It was an honor to write for Covenant Eyes. As I noted several months ago in Part 1 and Part 2 of my testimony, I use their software on my Mac, iPad and iPhone. Their service is incredible. I recommend it to anyone who wants to please God in this area of their life.
Ed. Note: We strongly recommend that anyone who struggles with sexual sin, particularly on the internet, should use a service like Covenant Eyes (Affiliate link) for accountability. I use them on every device that I own and it helps keep me honest even when I don’t want to be honest. Our affiliate code, WadeORadio, allows you to try the first month free of charge. You can find out more about covenant eyes here. – Wade
