Andy Mineo’s song “You Can’t Stop Me” is now the Indiana Pacers anthem for the 2017-2018 basketball season. When asked how he got involved with the Pacers, Mineo said, “The Pacers Organization reached out and they wanted to use my song “You Can’t Stop Me”, and I think it’s an incredible song to match a great team this year.”
According to NBA.com, “the song, “You Can’t Stop Me”, is no stranger to the sports world. It won an ESPN Whammy Award for being Major League Baseball’s most popular walk up song in 2015.”
Mineo is no stranger to adding sports references to his music as he recently collaborated with Wordsplayed to release their record, Magic & Bird.
“I love basketball, I grew up playing basketball. My new record, Magic & Bird, is based off of basketball… rap and basketball are like cousins. They’re just always together,” Mineo said. “I think that thing that makes Indiana basketball special, is they have incredible teams, both college teams and pro teams. And they’re all about grit. So, I think Larry Bird and the greats coming through, and always giving a 110 percent on the court.”
“You Can’t Stop Me” is from Mineo’s 2014 Never Land EP.
