DJ Wade-O was born and raised in Columbus, OH and developed a love for music at a very young age. His father loved music and helped shape the way he approaches it. By the time Wade-O was in middle school, he had acquired a deep affection for the art of hip hop and was often seen debating and discussing the latest and greatest hip hop trends while in the lunch room and barbershop.
Once he left Columbus to attend college at Howard University in Washington, DC, he began to DJ professionally.
During his time in college, and under the moniker DJ Oddysey, he dedicated himself to becoming a skilled DJ and businessman. By day he was a student in Howard’s School of Business Honors Program and at night he DJ’d parties, concerts and events alongside Eminem, Alicia Keys, Busta Rhymes, DJ Clue, Fabolous, DMX, Mos Def, Foxy Brown, Mobb Deep, Ashanti and various other mainstream heavy hitters. He was even offered the opportunity to become a resident DJ for the largest night club in the country upon gradutation.
Thankfully, God had other plans for DJ Wade-O. A good friend of Wade-O’s gave him multi-platinum rapper-turned Pastor Mason “Ma$e Betha’s testimonial biography Revelations as a gradution gift. It was through this book, that he began to see the emptiness of his own life. He realized that what he was seeking: Money, Power and Fame, would never satisfy his soul. It was at that point that he dedicated his life and gifts to Jesus Christ.
Now residing in Newark, NJ, DJ Wade-O is a committed husband, father, DJ, radio personality, producer, business owner, and ministry leader. Upon graduating Cum Laude from Howard University, he, worked for Alcatel-Lucent for 5 years and earned a master’s degree in finance from Babson College.
In 2006, I began the Wade-O Radio Show Podcast and left Alcatel-Lucent during the summer of 2007 to focus on it full-time. The Wade-O Radio Show has since been downloaded over 2 Million times and is currently syndicated on 25 radio stations world-wide.
Through this platform, he have had the opportunity to interview people such as Al Sharpton, Kirk Franklin, Lecrae, Dorinda Clark-Cole, Da’ T.R.U.T.H., Allan Houston and ESPN’s Chris Broussard.
DJ Wade-O has also been fortunate enough to DJ, Host or speak at over hundreds of events across the country, including major festivals and conferences like SXSW, Revelation Generation, Flavor Fest, Rap Fest, Legacy Conference and Positive Direction for Youth.
